JO HARMAN is UK based blue-eyed soulstress who has quite a CV. She’s worked with people like Michael McDonald, Will Downing, Hamish Stuart and US Grammy Winner Mike Farris. Her ‘Signature Soul’ EP was critically acclaimed but maybe the biggest feather in Jo’s cap was when Motown legend Lamont Dozier chose her as duet partner for a version of the 4 Tops’ ‘Reach Out’ on his ‘Reimagination’ album.
By double coincidence, Ms Harman’s latest single is another duet and it’s also another Motown cover. The song is ‘You’re All I Need To Get By’ and her duet partner is Mike Mayfield. Mike is one of the most in demand session and stage players around (think Jessie J, Rita Ora, Emeli Sande and Joss Stone) and with Jo in fine form and a delicate, acoustic production from Andy Strange, the Marvin/ Tammi classic is quietly reinvented or as Lamont Dozier would say “reimagined”.
