The classic soulful house outing, ‘You Used To Hold Me’ is the latest offering in the DJ SPINNA curated 7” vinyl ‘Foundations’ series via bbe music. Spinna says: “You Used To Hold Me seems like one of those anthemic jams that you pretty much heard everywhere- it was massive. I remember hearing it at the Paradise Garage in 1987, but it may have already been a hit on NY radio by that time. It’s one of those classic vocal tracks that impacted the House world as hard as Ten City ‘Devotion’ and ‘Move Your Body’ by Marshall Jefferson. The Bonus Beats on the 12” was a great tool for the DJ. You often heard it used in blends with other tracks.”
‘You Used To Hold Me’ showcased the talents of Ralphi Rosario and featured a big vocal from Xaviera Gold. Collaborating on the reissue is Kai Alce who opines: “This is the blueprint to vocal House music and how it should be delivered and to have the opportunity to present it on 7″ for the first time with Ralphi’s blessing is overwhelmingly gratifying!”.
‘You Used To Hold Me’ on 7” vinyl (limited to 1,000 copies) will be available via bbe Foundations from October 1st.
