Last month we reported on a contemporary and quirky soul and funk band – SAY SHE SHE. The oddly named Brooklyn band is an 8 piece led by three female vocalists – Piya Malik, Nya Gazelle Brown and Sabrina Cunningham (pictured above) and their disc , a hard-to pigeon-hole ‘Forget Me Not’ won support from those who like their new music a little left field.
They now follow that up with an equally eclectic ‘Blow My Mind’ – soulful, yes; a funky undertow for sure – but not classic soul nor classic funk. File under “intriguing”. Last time we described their sound as Rotary Connection meets Kate Bush and ‘Blow My Mind’ underlines that! Out now via Colemine/Karma Chief.
