FREDDIE LEE (Peterkin) hails from Florida and we first heard from him back in 2008 when he released a lovely album, ‘Beyond Comprehension’. The LP was actually recorded in Birmingham (UK, not Alabama) and with production by Tony Bean and Colin Bassett, the album was packed with passion, commitment and old school soul.
Next time we heard from Mr L was in 2022 when he released a single, ‘Freedom’. That single and the earlier LP were delivered with soulful conviction, so we weren’t surprised to learn that Freddie’s background was in the church and, in fact, we now believe that our man describes himself as both a “soul” and “gospel” performer.
Hear bags of soul/gospel conviction on Freddie’s new single, ‘Be Strong’. This one (another collaboration with Tony Bean) is a contemporary gospel affair with a fast(ish) steppers rhythm. The vocal’s gritty and for real and with BVs from the Kerr Sisters, the whole thing’s uplifting. Out now!
