TRACYE EILEEN is a Chicago-based soul and jazz singer who’s worked the city’s circuit for some time now. Reared in gospel, she’s built up quite a following, a following that is set to expand as she gears up to release a five track EP on June12th.
The mini-album is ‘It’s Time’ and she tells us that the song cycle is all about love, relationships, personal growth and change. She co-wrote the songs with her producer Kendall Duffie (you’ll know him from his work with Kloud 9 and soulstress Kenya) and between them they craft a tight sound that will please fans of smooth jazz and sophisticated soul.
Focus track appears to be the light bossa that is ‘Why Did I Say Yes’ …a cool, summer vibe. We’re guessing that this is the “focus” since Tracye and Kendall have chosen to offer it in a second mix… an 8 minute house mix , if you would, which sounds a little out of kilter with the EP’s overall smooth ambience as typified by ‘Now That We’re Here’, ‘Somehow, Someway’ and the catchy, harmonic ‘Sweeter With Time’.
A selection of the songs are already being rotated on Sirius XM, so, yes, for Ms Eileen, maybe, it is time!
