Like most artists, WILL DOWNING has been busy during the lockdown. He’s been kicking around some ideas for a new album and the first fruit is a delicious new, double A sided single.
Fans will be familiar with one of the songs – the lush ballad, ‘Close To You’ which featured on his ‘Romantique 2’ EP from a little while back. More intriguing maybe is the “other side” – an up-tempo ‘Right Where You Are’. Some may be surprised that Will has gone back to the dance floor after his recent successful excursions into the world of Quiet Storm, but, remember, it was dance material like ‘Love Supreme’ that kick started things for Will in the first place.
‘Right Where You Are’ is out of the same stable as ‘Love Supreme’ – almost hitting soulful house territory but not quite. Will, remember, is dubbed the “Prince of Sophisticated Soul” and this release amply proves he still is just that!
