MELONYX is a Nottingham singing/songwriting duo, Georgia Copeland and Nadia Latoya, who made some waves with their Joe Buhdha produced ‘Black Elixir’ EP. The music was a sweet cocktail of hip hop, neo soul and lovers rock and the pair are developing that unique sound for their debut album, ‘Soul Glow’ (due July).
As a taster, the girls have just released the first single – a very charming and clever ‘At The Door’. With production once again courtesy of Buhdha, the song is hard to pigeon-hole… neo-soul, lovers rock, contemporary R&B – they’re all in the mix and it really works.
The girls tell us that the song is all about leaving attitude and ego “at the door” and meeting your partner half way in any little fall out… in other words reconciliation, and you can’t argue with that. The girls deliver that message in a sweet but precise way. Recommended if you like things just a little different – out now!
