WHERE’S THE PLAYGROUND?

PEACEY ((Richard Peace) is a UK muso/producer from the West Midlands. From a musical family (his granddad was an acclaimed organist), he was initiated into the wonderful world of vinyl by his Uncle Tim. A career in music was, we’re told, the logical outcome. Clubbing and DJ-ing followed on and Mr P eventually ended up with a residency at the Ministry Of Sound.

Right now, though, he’s preparing the release of his first solo LP, ‘Play It By Ear’ which is described as “an eclectic sonic journal, cataloguing Peacey’s interactions with, and influences from, some of dance music’s notable players”.

Agree or challenge that description by investigating  the set’s current single – a mover and shaker,  ‘Playground’ which features soulful, acrobatic vocals by Rona Ray. There are  various mixes but the original tweak really hits the spot even though there’s a slight shading of Ed Sheeran’s ‘Shape Of You’ in places.  It’s out now via the Atjazz Record Company. Album to follow on April 5th.
