DJ SPEN and his Quantize team love nothing better than updating 24 carat soul classics. Over the last few years they’ve treated to us a cornucopia of soul covers. Latest classic to get the treatment is Stephanie Mill’s still wonderful ‘Whatcha Gonna Do with My Lovin’. From 1979, it was Ms Mill’s first hit and it’s never gone away – a floor filler at all the best glitter ball parties.
For the new version Spen has teamed up with John Morales (as he often does) to work as SPENCER MORALES and to help them deliver their version, they’ve enlisted London soul sister Phebe Edwards and she’s clearly not daunted by taking on a classic.
There are, of course, all kinds of mixes; the M+M Main mix contains all the song’s essential elements presented with the legendary Quantize flair while the instrumental mix is a stormer too. Out now!
