The Aussie soul and jazz contingent are very busy lately … hot on the heels of the Putbacks, comes a new single from English-born, Australian-raised singer-songwriter DAISY HICKS. Her new song, in its original form, is a pleasant ‘When I’m Gone’ (NO, not the Brenda Holloway classic!). It’s a sweet little acoustic thing…. but here’s the good news. There’s an ab fab remix from Metlife ( Michael Gray/Jon Pearn) that quite transforms things. The mix is stuffed with all the hallmarks of a modern soul classic and should keep the dance jocks and their punters happy over the coming party season.
We’re told there’s a Daisy Hicks LP in the 2019 pipeline and an Alex Di Cio mix of ‘When I’m Gone’ on the way, but young Alex will have to pull out all the stops to top this Metlife mix!
