The latest album from smooth jazzer KIM WATERS is the ten tracker that is ‘What I Like’ and if what you like is classic, sax-led, slick smooth jazz, riding a sophisticated soul groove this is for you! That sound is best typified by the opener, ‘The Touch Of Love’ – little wonder that Waters and his team selected the infectious tune as the album’s lead single.
Seven of the ten tracks are Waters’ originals (he plays most of the instruments and produces too) but to keep interest high there are three well-chosen covers. First up there’s a jazzy reading of Bruno Mars’ ‘That’s What I Like’, then a great take on Maxwell’s ‘Sumphin’ Sumphin” and finally a cover of the Isleys’ ‘Voyage To Atlantis’ – one of the LP’s slower moments.
