Grammy-nominated soul legend BETTYE LAVETTE, who has experienced a creative renaissance in the last decade, releases a brand new album on the 26th January. Titled ‘Worthy‘ it’s the follow-up to 2012’s ‘Thankful N’ Thoughtful’ and finds the Michigan-born singer signed to the UK’s own Cherry Red label. It reunites her with producer Joe Henry – the pair worked together on LaVette’s 2005’s critically-lauded long player ‘I’ve Got My Own Hell To Raise’ – and features eleven tracks with songs penned by Jagger/Richards, Bob Dylan, Lennon & McCartney, and others.
Describing the album, producer, Joe Henry, says: “With every song on ‘Worthy,’ Bettye finds the thread that first will unravel it. Then she stitches it all back together until it fits her taut frame and fierce stride, until it bends to meet her; until each song’s story is somehow, miraculously, telling her own“.
‘Worthy’ will be available on CD, vinyl, and there is also a Deluxe Edition which will contain both the CD and a live DVD comprising footage of Bettye’s June 2014 concert at the Jazz Café in London.
