VINCENT BONHAM DIES…

Several US sources are reporting the death at age 67 of singer VINCENT BONHAM. No details are at hand save that he passed “sometime in March”.

Bonham was an original member of the 70s R&B group Raydio. He sang but also played keyboards, guitar, bass, percussion and horns. The other original members were guitarist Ray Parker, Jerry Knight and Arnell Carmichael. They debuted in 1978 with a take on the old nursey rhyme ‘Jack and Jill’. Other 70s hit included ‘You Can’t Change That’.

By 1980 vocalist Knight left the group (to form Ollie and Jerry) and Raydio became Ray Parker Jr and Raydio. When Parker left for a solo career, the band folded. Bonham went on to work again with Jerry Knight and he also played sessions  with people like Prince, Chaka Khan , and Evelyn Champagne King.

In 2014 Bonham joined original member Arnell Carmichael in a “new” version of Raydio. Bonham soon left though  but the Carmichael-led version of Raydio continues to tour.
