Hard to believe, but veteran band CONFUNKSHUN have been in the biz for well over four decades! The current line-up features long time band members Michael Cooper Karl Fuller, and Felton Pilate and the guys clearly love what they do ‘cos they show no signs of slowing up – and their upcoming single is as soulful and as fresh as anything in their storied back catalogue!
Their new cut is a graceful, mid-tempo foot tapper , ‘Smooth’ and it’s the official follow up to their spring hit, the lovely, harmonic ‘Text Me Tomorrow’. The newie is a tad faster but never frantic as it conjures up the same romantic mood as ‘Text…’.
The tune was written by Felton Pilate, who co-produced the tune with Michael Cooper and the duo cleverly keep things very contemporary whilst offering a nod to classic soul via a little hint of Marvin Gaye’s ‘After The Dance’ – very clever and proof that there’s no substitute for experience in this soul game!
Both ‘Smooth’ and ‘Text Me Tomorrow’ will feature on Confunkshun’s 2024 album, ‘Smooth Jukebox’.
