In what has to be the quickest follow up in recent music history, VAN MORRISON releases a new album just a couple of month after his last album, ‘Roll With The Punches’. The new long player – ‘Versatile’ – is all set for release on December 1st.
‘Roll With The Punches’ saw Sir Van revisit his blues roots; ‘Versatile’ is something quite different – showing, I guess, Morrison’s versatility! The new set offers 16 tracks. Six of ’em are new Van Morrison songs but the rest are his interpretations of some of the 20th century’s greatest vocal jazz and pop standards. .. songs like ‘A Foggy Day’, ‘Unchained Melody’ and ‘I Get A Kick Out Of You’.
The man says: “Recording songs like these – especially the standards – gave me the chance to stretch out vocally and get back to the music that originally inspired me to sing – jazz!”
