PROPHETS AND OUTLAWS are one of Texas’ most popular live bands. Their latest release is the simply titled ‘V’…. V, the roman numeral for five, and, surprise surprise, the five tracker is the group’s fifth release!
Musically Prophets and Outlaws peddle old school, Southern soul with a touch of rock – the rock most apparent on ‘Party Like This’ which rides in on a classic rocky guitar riff.
The soul fraternity will find much more connection on the opening ‘Show Me’. The tune has a simplicity that is endearing and the vocal from Matt Boggs is a delight… rooted, like the whole production, in southern soul. ‘Outlaw Like Me’ is more countrified but with an old school soul undertow.
