Good news! BLUEY and the INCOGNITO team are back amongst with some new music – well not exactly “new! Last autumn we enthused about the band’s just released album ‘Into You’ – a splendid cornucopia of classic Incognito flavours sprinkled with several surprises. Little wonder the LP was lauded as one of 2023’s very best.
Well, for this new release Mr M and has team have cherry picked four of the album’s cuts and had them remixed… ‘Reimagined’, if you would!
First up is ‘1993’. This jazzy workout (with keyboardist Chicco Allotta out front) is revitalised in a new hypnotic Richard Bull mix. Next up is ‘Notting Makes Me Feel Better’. With Cherri V on vocals, this was a tight, punchy dancer. For the “reimagining” Ski Oakenfull ups the ante and take the track (tastefully) into soulful house territory.
The third newbie is a James Berkeley treatment of the album title track on which he retains the lush romanticism of the original but adds a subtle R&B vibe. Bluey himself handles the remix of the fourth track – ‘Keep Me In the Dark’. Our man raises the tempo and adds a thumping bass line under Natalie Duncan’s soulful vocal, thus creating an instant Incognito classic.
‘Into You – Reimagined’ will be good to go August 16th via Splash Blue
