Fans of quality indie soul will be delighted by the recent release of a four track EP called ‘Soul Unsigned’. The collection is the brainchild of long time soul fan PHIL DRIVER who some may know via his Solar Radio shows. The EP (sub-titled EP: 001) kicks of with a very bright ‘Blow Your Mind’ from GROOVE’S BACK PRODUCTIONS feat. AMARIM. Loose and spacey, its rides a real summery vibe and is followed by ‘Tonight Alright’ from the EXCELLENT GENTLEMAN whose sound recalls prime time BRAND NEW HEAVIES. The third cut comes from Londoner FELIX who slows the tempo down a little with ‘Leave It All Behind’. There’s a real 80s feel on that one, but loose-limbed, bass-heavy rhythms are the order of the day on the closer – HARAMBE’S ‘In The Bone’. So, four great cuts on what PHIL hopes will be the first in a long-running series. Indeed our man’s already working on the next EP and a ten track album.
