TRY SOME SOULADELICA!

Since the summer, US soul entrepreneur/producer REGI MYRIX has enchanted us with a series of thoroughly contemporary soul cuts that betray his years of experience in the soul biz. I think we’ve had three singles – ’If You Don’t Mind’, Make Me Fall’ (both with vocals  from Lamar Kelsey) and  ‘Let It Go’ (Lina at the mic here). All three were bob on the current soul vibe – modern, yes, but with a nod to the genre’s past. With each release we were told that there was either an EP or a full album on the way. Well, the wait is over and Mr M has just launched the LP from which those tasty tunes come.

The album is ‘SoulDelica- Part One’ (so looks like more to come!) and, in the context of the long player,  the above three tunes still deliver. Eagle-eyed soulsters will also spot a couple of previousy available Myrix tunes nestling on the album. They are the Nia Simmons-fronted ‘Relax’ and ‘Remain Friends’ which features the mixed sex vocal group NexXxup (Lamar Kelsey is a member by the way). Both those tracks were first released in 2021 but they still fit the sonic template of the new album.

NexXxup are featured on two other tracks – the crisp beater that ‘All In’ (an album highlight) and the catchy ‘Moment In Time’. Another album highlight is the ’Juicy Fruit’ flavoured ‘Have U Ever ( Luv Somebody’ – a duet between Lamar Kelsey and another NexXxup member Courtney Danger. That duo also star on the smooth R&B Burner ‘I Just Wanna Know’.

The preponderance of NexXxup tracks is explained by the fact that Regi’s MyrixMediaGroup have just inked a deal with the NexXxup Entertainment Group and if future  joint projects  follow the trajectory of this 12 tracker the contemporary soul and R&B crowds have plenty to look forward to!
