Stephen ‘T.O.E.’ Forde has been on the UK music scene for nearly three decades. As part of Perception, he was an early signing to Gilles Peterson’s Talkin’ Loud imprint in the early 1990s with his ‘Out and About EP’. Since the late 90s T.O.E. has been producing, resurfacing only now and then with a handful of tracks including his brand new single ‘SayIt Loud’.
The title suggests that Forde has based his tune on the James Brown anthem and to some extent he has – but the flavours he offers are very, very different to the fierce funk of the Godfather. The original mix of Steve’s track has been around since January and if you listen to some decent soul radio (e.g Craig Charles) you’ll know that this ‘Say It Loud’ features an infectious horn section courtesy of Artembrass, and a great vocal from Detroit’s Marcus Malone. Between them they craft a Latin dance vibe designed to set feet tapping!
‘Say It Loud’ is now amongst us again in its original version alongside remixes from Ramrock’s North Street West crew (Ashley Beedle, Darren Morris and Jo Wallace) who crank up the Fania Latin vibes in fine barrio style! There are dubs too and the usual instrumental.
