London collective, ANDY AND THE BIG FUNK is one of various artistic outlets for man about music and sometime Abbey Road studio engineer Andrew Wood Mitchell. Their new single is a soulful and heartfelt, ‘Absent Friend’ which was written for and dedicated to the memory of band member Wayne Nunes. The acclaimed bassist sadly died in 2021 and this ‘Absent Friend’ is a wonderful, emotional tribute.
We’re told that the song comes from an upcoming album from the Big Funkers which includes songs by Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Bill Withers and Teddy Pendergrass. Sounds interesting!
