BB SOUL is the performing alter ego of the acclaimed Boogie Back production and remix team. Founded by bassist and producer Ernie Mckone, and multi-instrumentalist Toby Baker, they are dedicated to writing and producing quality soul music “that pays homage to its golden era.” Anoraks and avid sleeve readers will know that the team have collaborated with people like Galliano, Eric Clapton, BB King Incognito, Candi Staton and Alexander O’Neil.
Their own latest project is a new 7” single that features a BB Soul favourite on the A side, ‘Time Waits’. Featruing a slinky vocal from Cheri Maree, the cut is a classic slice of retro Brit soul that will remind you of all kinds of other things while still retaining its own powerful identity. The disc’s B side is a new recording, ‘Is It You’ – again replete with classic Brit soul flavours. Ms Maree stars at the mic again. Out now.
