The name of soul/jazz chanteuse MIKI HOWARD will be familiar to visitors to this site. Ditto, jazz star ABBEY LINCOLN. The names are intertwined on Ms Howard’s latest single – a cover of one of Lincoln’s most celebrated songs, ‘Throw It Away’ .
Ms Lincoln wrote and recorded the highly personal song in 1980. It’s been covered many times and Howard offers an emotive take on which it’s evident that her life’s lessons have impacted on the development of her relationships. The recording also betrays her love and respect for the great jazz stars – people like Billie Holiday and Dinah Washington.
