Earlier this year we were introduced to MAYA BLANDY – a young Portuguese singer/songwriter. Our intro came via her track ‘Stardust’ – a club favourite around the Iberian peninsula. When it was tweaked with the addition of more vocals from dance diva, Kathy Brown it won plenty of plays and plaudits in the best dance/disco emporia,
‘Stardust’ was produced by Jake Wherry (founding member and producer of UK Hip-Hop pioneers, The Herbaliser) and Jake’s at the helm for Maya’s upcoming single, ‘Disco Nights’ . It’s not a cover of the old GQ tune, rather a new song inspired by old school disco /soul with the added feel of people like Dua Lipa. It’s a big, bassy, brassy, Chic style production and we’re told will, like ‘Stardust’ feature on Maya’s 2024 album. In the meantime you can get on down to ‘Disco Nights’ when it’s officially released later this month on JMJ Recordings.
