KEJAM (the alter ego of UK soul muso Dee Majek) have just released their latest single… a double A sider featuring two finger-clicking, foot tapping instrumentals. The soul groove that is ‘Gravity (Shake That)’ is bass-led and there’s a garnish of African rhythms about it. ‘Dystopia’ is bright and breezy and built around a set of delicious beats embellished with tinkling vibes that obviously recall Roy Ayres. If Mr Majek ever gets round to putting lyrics to it, he’d have a modern soul smash on his hands with this one. Infectious it sure is.
Helping Dee create his groove is ace keyboardist James Colah who features strongly on Kejam’s upcoming long player, ‘Dystopia’, which will be reviewed right here just as soon as it hits the sale racks.
