THE PLAY’S THE THING….

Soul fans who are also theatre goers will be familiar with the work  of Hull playwright JOHN GODBER. Amongst his successes are ‘Bouncers’ and ‘Teechers’ two plays that remain valid and still play to packed audiences.

What you may not know is that Godber is also a Northern soul fan (maybe, Hull is the clue?) and he’s just  finished a play about the Northern soul scene. It’s called rather aptly ‘Do I Love You’ and it tells the tale of two star crossed soul lovers, Natalie and Kyle.  The PR people  behind the play say: “Out on the floor they are in a world of their own, far away from egg muffins and deep fried chicken. But as the north levels up Natalie and Kyle’s life takes a downturn, and they find themselves steered by music which was a failure the first time round, where has it come from and what does it mean? “
