MATTHEW WINCHESTER was born in London but brought up on the islands of Trinidad and Tobago. He “found” music at an early age and such was his reputation that he was soon selling out local shows. A return to the UK saw Matthew score plenty of prestigious gigs – most notably as a member of one of the touring incarnations of the Drifters. But he’s also worked with Alex O’Neall, The Platters, Dionne Warwick and dear old Luther Vandross.

It’s taken Matthew some time to strike out solo but he’s just released his first single … a gentle, catchy, pop/soul ear worm called ‘The Other Side’ which has some of the flavours of the aforementioned Alex O and Luther V.

Matthew wrote and produced the tune which is just out on Emcee Music and, we’re told, it’s the lead single from an in-the-pipeline long player.

‘The Other Side’ is worth investigation and if you like things a little more hectic (though not too furious) there’s a lovely soulful house remix and another that goes into proper house territory.
