Just last month a new tune, ‘The Journey’ from UK soul veteran ANDRE ESPEUT grabbed loads of attention. Helping Andre out on his trip were long time collaborators JUAN LAYA & JORGE MONTIEL, that’s right the boys behind Los Charlys and Imagenes Records.
Their ‘Journey’ was quite a departure for them – a lot more laid back than their Latin-infused dance fare. It was, though, soulful and had a broken beats flavour and if that helped you on your way, you will want to know that the song is back with us in an extended mix courtesy of Juan and Jorge.
The duo keep the other worldly flavour going and there is a sort of hypnotic quality to proceedings – intriguing and beguiling. Maybe think vintage Rotary Connection with a contemporary garnish.
