London soul don Shaun Escoffrey is currently enjoying a deserved renaissance. After a blinding start with stuff like ‘Space Rider’ and ‘Days Like This’ there was, or so it seemed, a longish lull in his career. What many fans didn’t realise was that our man had subtly changed direction and was wowing audiences with his roles in West End shows!
However, more recently two new albums have reinstated Shaun has one of the UK’s top soul men. Last year’s ‘Evergreen’ long player was particularly well-received with one tune in particular, ‘Gave Me Love’ proving that Shaun Escoffrey could do “proper soul” just as well as any of our Stateside soul cousins!
Now Mr E goes into 2017 with a very strong single…. the Nigel Lowis mix of ‘Healing Game’. The song was always a highlight on ‘Evergreen’ but Nigel’s mix tightens things up and adds a subtle Samba undertow with just a hint of Chic. Little wonder that the track is already play listed on Radio Two, MI Soul and Jazz FM.
