Don’t know too much about singer/producer D FOLKS save that he hails from Richmond, Virginia and that his latest single, ‘The Truth’ is a proper soul stunner – one of 2020’s best so far. We’ve learned that the song was produced by Reginald Smith and good ‘ole Regg has really brought something special out of Mr Folks. The song, we’re told, is all about maintaining appearances out of fear, and questions the long term cost of clutching firmly to the past and not reaching for what could be but it’s the overall sound and that makes this track so special.
It seems that there’s a D Folks album on the way… ‘1977’, and that Brit soul entrepreneur Dee Majek (Kejam) is promoting ‘The Truth’. Now he knows a good tune when he hears one… it’s good to download now and comes recommended.
