Last September, Cool Million/Sed Soul’s ROB HARDT released his own headlining album, ‘Good Time For A Good Time’ and it caused a little controversy in the modern soul world. You see Rob “dared” to include some rap tracks! Sadly, many “modern soulsters” write off hip-hop/rap without even giving it a proper listen! Mr H, however, wasn’t bothered . He told us that he loves the power of rap combined with super funky music and positive lyrics and he also admitted that he’d missed hip hop for a long time.
The ‘Good Time For A Good Time’ wasn’t all hip hop and rap though. The album included plenty that we could label “more conventional Sed Soul sounds” like ‘Tell Me What You Want’ (with vocal from Nigerian singer Manasseh Telsumbini Mashi)… a personal favourite of Rob’s by the way. So, in the modern way, he’s just crafted two remixes of the tune – and they’re good to go right now from your usual source.
First up there’s an ‘Afro Vibe’ mix. It’s a busy, bustler with an 808 bass line and, again, maybe not your typical Sed Soul sound. For that you need to go to ‘The Groove mix’. This one’s a soulful, warm two stepper and comes recommended!
