It is with great sadness that SJF reports the death of TEENA MARIE, the California-born soul singer who enjoyed big R&B hits in the late-’70s and early-’80s at Motown Records. Apparently she died at her home in New Orleans on Sunday 26th December. She was 54. At the time of writing the cause of her death remains unknown though it is believed that the singer suffered from epilepsy. Teena – who was born Mary Christine Brockert in Santa Monica – leaves behind a daughter, also a singer, Alia Rose.
