For ten years or so we’ve been enjoying the energized music made by South West DJ duo THE ALLERGIES (DJ “Roy” Moneyshot and DJ “Adam” Rackabeat). Sometimes tongue in cheek but always packed with enthusiasm and respect for classic hip-hop, the boys’ music has won them a cult following. Their 2015’ LP ‘As We Do Our Thing’ fast became 6 Music’s “Album Of The Week” and I-Tunes’ best-selling hip hop album of the month. Other albums like ‘Push On’ and ‘Steal The Show’ won plenty of applause too.

More recently, critics have enthused about the singles ‘Stanky Funk’, ‘Never Gonna Let Go’, ‘Vamonos’, Reconcile’, ‘Hypnotise’ and ‘Mash Up The Sound’. All those tunes are featured on the Allergies’ brand new long player,  ‘Tear The Place Up’ which is released this Friday 19th May via Jalapeno Records.

Those singles set the tone for the 13 tracker – a number lucky for some!  Lucky if you want your music to entertain and maybe raise the odd smile while nodding your head and tapping your feet. Throughout, the music is based on funky basslines, blaring horns and proper dance floor grooves. It’s all in the mix – funk, soul, disco, house, jazz, ragga  and plenty and plenty of old school hip-hop. Guests on the album include Andy Cooper, Marietta Smith and the Pharcyde’s Bootie Brown who  featured, of  course, on the still wonderful ‘Stanky Funk’.
