S’WONDERFUL!

VERONICA THOMAS is a New York born jazz singer who grew up in a jazz loving household eventually cutting her teeth in various choirs. It was during the lockdowns and to further her solo music making ambitions that  Ms T went online to find some vocal coaching and found John Proulx, a Los Angeles-based popular singer, pianist, composer, and recording artist. Between them, they crafted Veronica’s debut album – 2022’s ‘Times Like These’, though, for reasons never fully explained, Veronica Thomas used the pseudonym “Nica Carrington”! The LP was gentle, 9 track collection of new interpretations of songs from the Great American Songbook and Ms Carrington delivered them with respect in a warm and soulful voice.

Now, as “Veronica Thomas”, the singer’s just launched the follow up album, ‘They Say It’s Wonderful’… another collaboration with John Proulx. The concise 12 tracker continues where ‘Times Like These’ left off. That’s to say it a collection of quality, lounge jazz interpretation of standards – some better known than others. Maybe the best known songs are ‘Dindi’, ‘Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered’ and Henry Mancini’s ‘Two For The Road’. That’s a movie song, of course, and this album is peppered with songs from the Golden Age of Hollywood and Broadway, like ‘If I Were a Bell’ from ‘Pal Joey’ and ‘Too Late Now’ from the movie ‘Royal Wedding ‘.
