PETAWANE (pronounced Pee-tah-wayne; real name James Tyrone Burris) is a Harlem born and raised soul man whose latest single is winning plenty of support Stateside. It’s a gentle and sweet contemporary soul ramble simply called ‘Music’.
The song’s attraction is the storyline. It’s one of those clever “litany” songs on which the singer name checks a whole host of soul stars and their songs. Here Petawane begins with dear old Luther before moving on through a veritable who’s who of artists. He sings sweetly and the production/arrangement is totally sympathetic. It’s quite charming and it’s out now!
