We first heard of UK soulstress GIZELLE SMITH back in 2010 when she fronted a catchy tune called ‘June’ .
Since then she’s worked with The Mighty Mocambos…. you may remember their lovely ‘The Time Is Right For Love’ from the ‘Seven Heaven’ long player.
Now, pacted to Jalapeno Records, she’s cutting an album all of her own. It’s due in March. However, just in time for Christmas, she’s released a single that offers two lovely tunes. First up there’s ‘S.T.A.Y’ – a punchy, tight, brassy old school groove; then there’s ‘Sweet Memories’ – a more ponderous cut that’s right on the current UK soul vibe. We’re thinking that ‘S.T.A.Y’ will be the one for the party season.
