By common consent, one of the year’s best Brit soul albums so far is May’s ‘Dreams’ from veteran VICTOR HAYNES. It was/is a sweet and lovely affair once again proving that in this soul business, experience counts for an awful, awful lot!
The album offered plenty of romantic moments but also had plenty to keep the rug cutters happy. Tracks like ‘We’ve Got Love’, ‘Got My Mind Made Up’, ‘Gonna Be Right There’ and ‘Movin’ On’ were/are all guaranteed to get you off the wall; ditto the album title track – ‘Dreams’.
The cut was one of many stand outs on the album and to satisfy demand, Vic and his team have had the tune remixed by T-GROOVE (Yuki Takahashi to his mates). He doesn’t’ tamper too much but gets things going right from the start with tight, tight beats and a funky bass line that powers things along with real urgency as Vic’s sweet and soulful vocals duel with sexy and sensual sax lines.
This unmissable mix is good to go right now via Expansion (and – for the anoraks – did you know that Mr. Haynes is Expansion’s longest recurring artist? He must be doing something right!)
