SUZANNE “MINNIE” THOMAS – latterly one half of duo, TASTE OF HONEY – died on Monday 15th June, aged 60.
Taste of Honey originally comprised Janice Marie Johnson and Hazel Payne (and, in the background, keyboardist Perry Kibble). They, of course, enjoyed a massive hit with 1978’s infectious ‘Boogie Oogie Oogie’; they scored again with their version of ‘Sukiyaki’ and enjoyed two album releases.
The core duo split up with Payne going into acting and Johnson trying to forge a solo music career. In 1996 she recreated Taste Of Honey and brought in Suzanne Thomas to fill the Hazel Payne role. The pair worked sporadically until recently.
