Don’t know too much about a young UK trio SHARPSTAR (no gap!) save that they comprise drummer/horn player Matt Lush, bassist Dan Simms and vocalist and keyboardist Josh Day. Apart from that, not a lot, save that debut single has much to commend it.
It’s a lively groove, ‘Sun Shines On’ and how to define it? Well, blue-eyed soul, for sure with some catchy changes. There’s a lovely summer vibe about it, but the song title tells you that anyway. We’re told that the track was recorded at Paul Weller’s Black Barn Studios but we don’t know if the man himself was involved in the recording!
