Houston soul and R&B group H TOWN  claim to be the biggest selling independent R&B group of all time! I guess that depends on what stats you use but what is not in doubt is  that the boys – twin brothers Keven “Dino” Conner and Solomon “Shazam” Conner, along with long-time friend Darryl “G.I.” Jackson cut some splendid records – like their platinum selling debut album, ‘Fever for da Flavor’ and  their hit single. 1994’s ‘Emotions’.

Sadly Dino died in a tragic car accident in 2003 but the band (as a duo) carried on and continue to record but right now SHAZAM CONNER is  stepping out on his own and working on a solo album. As the obligatory taster, he’s just released the  first single – a shuffling, beat driven ‘Strokey Doke’ which, unsurprisingly given its quality, has just hit the Top 30 on the Billboard Adult Airplay chart. Oddly too, though, ‘Strokey Doke’ is billed as a Shazam solo record it features input from his H-Town groupmates, G.I. and his late brother Dino Conner. Intriguing. It’s out now!
