In July, funkateers were impressed by a tough, brassy item… ‘Live Every Moment’ from EXECUTIVE BRASS… a San Francisco outfit formed by sax man Lincoln Adler and trumpeter Phil Adams. The pair met as music students at the University of California at Berkeley and were drawn together by their mutual love for jazz, R&B, funk, soul and Latin.
Their ‘Live Every Moment’ was a melding of all those flavours and was topped by an on point vocal from sometime Santana front man Tony Lindsay. ‘Live Every Moment’ hasn’t really gone away and before it has, it’s right back with us in a new Nigel Lowis mix which cranks up the funk quotient while keeping the beefy brass, the infectious percussion, the authentic vocals and the crazy horn solos.
