Back in August, LOS CHARLYS ORCHESTRA released something a little different to their usual Latin-tinged grooves. Vocalized by HEIDI VOGEL, their ‘Free’ had a classy, late Motown vibe to it. Little wonder, the band said their inspiration for the cut was Marvin Gaye and his ‘Inner City Blues’.
Now a few months down the line, Los Charlys’ ‘Free’ is back with us in a new version… the “Reflex Revision”. Created in the “Reflex lab” and featuring live drumming from Adam Betts (drummer for Goldie, Heritage Orchestra, Jarvis Cocker among others), this new tweak is moodier with a jazzy undertow… a feel of Nuyorican Soul about proceedings here. The new “revision” is out now on Imagenes Records
