It was back in May that we discovered a fab new album from US soul man RAI. We knew little about RAI, save that the album – ‘Love’s On The Way’ was/is a well-crafted, beautifully produced modern soul set that drew comparisons with Howard Hewett, Marvin Gaye, and Donny Hathaway and from more recent times, Maxwell.
It took a while but the album finally took off reaching #1 in both the UK Soul chart & The Sweet Rhythms chart. The track that won the most radio plays was the mid-tempo ‘Fall Back (echoes of Maxwell) and now the song’s back in two fresh remixes.
There’s a slinky “B Jhon” mix and a beatier “UK soul bop” tweak that is bound to find favour with the modern soul cognoscenti… out now
