Al Green’s ‘Let’s Stay Together’ is a bona fide 24 carat soul classic. Its loveliness means it’s been covered dozens of times – indeed, twice in the last month alone! First from Paul Stanley’s Soul Station and just last week Lori Williams released her latest album, ‘A New Book’, which proffered a lovely version of the song.
Now ‘Let’s Stay Together’ is back with us again. This time courtesy of THE CHESTNUT BROTHERS. Been quite a while since we heard from Al and Ty but it’s great to have ‘em back and on top form.
For their take on the Hi chestnut (pun intended!) they crank up the pace a tad but loose none of the emotion and soulful feeling. The big, crystalline production and fab vocals betray the boy’s wealth of experience and innate talent and yes, their ‘Let’s Stay Together’ is a little different but well worth checking out. Not sure right now whether the track is from any sort of upcoming long player (hope so!). Out now!
