The AL UR PAL PROJECT is a US music collective marshalled by Chicagoan singer, songwriter, and producer, AL WORDLAW.
Big Al began writing music at age fourteen. After graduating from Harlan High School, he studied at the U.S. School of Music where he earned a Certificate of Completion in music theory and his first forays into the music biz were via gospel. He’s also published a book of spiritual poetry titled ‘Love Is Our Law.’ He is a member of the Beverly Hills Seventh-day Adventist Church in Chicago, where he is broker/owner of Wordlaw Realty and he also serves in the city’s fire department.
Now we don’t know if the Al Ur Project is a side hustle or Al’s main outlet but their current three track EP, ‘Stay With Me’ is winning the outfit plenty of plaudits. First we need to say that despite what we know of Al, the music here is secular as witnessed by the lead track, ‘Stay WithMe’ – a powerful, building ballad with sweet supportive BVs.
The other tracks are the pacey ‘Last Chance’ and the tight, beaty ‘Feels So Good’. All three show Al’s love of classic soul, especially Motown and feature the might soulful vocals of SOFIA BANGA (pictured above). We’ve learned that Sofia hails from the Philippines and that she began singing at an early age .On the strength of these three cuts, she’s one to watch!
