  • SOUNDS OF DENMARK RETURNS TO LONDON

Since 2016, London has hosted a successful short festival called Sounds Of Denmark that showcases rising stars of the Danish jazz scene. It’s due to return this year – as Sounds Of Denmark Revisited 2019 – and is scheduled to take place between Wednesday October 16th and Saturday 19th.

This year, Londoners will be able to get acquainted with  Morten Schantz Godspeed, an ultra-modern piano trio that embrace funk and synthesisers; the Makiko Hirabayashi Trio, led by a Japanese-born Copenhagen-residing pianist whose group features former Miles Davis percussionist, Marilyn Mazur; Hess Is More, whose sound has been described as nu jazz electronica; jazz trio Hess/AC/Hess Spacelab; drummer/composer Snorre Kirk and his quartet; and award-winning pianist/composer, Kathrine Windfeld, who returns to the festival for the second year running (though this time, she’ll be heard with a sextet).

All the concerts will take place at London’s Pizza Express Jazz Club in Dean Street.
