SOUL’S THRIVING!

CLAIRE DAVIS is a Canadian soul singer who fronts Toronto funk band Yuka. Ms D also pursues her own solo projects – the latest of which you can enjoy via ever-dependable LRK Records.

The label has just released  a single on the lady which pairs ‘Thrive’ with ‘Playground’ . The former is a lovely mid-paced offering with a sweet soul undertow bringing out the best in Claire’s vocal. We believe that ‘Playground’ is an older tune but it has the same catchy, sweet flavour. Best comparison we can make is that the tunes sound like something from UK band Soulutions… and that’s a big recommendation!

A lover of 60s and 70s soul, Claire Davis is a class act. Little wonder she’s shared stages with people like as Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, Lee Fields & the Expressions, Daniel Caesar, Charlotte Day Wilson, Jessie Reyez, Jully Black, Snoop Dogg, and Motown Legend Martha Reeves of Martha & the Vandellas.

We’re told that both these songs are from an upcoming Davis EP and on the strength of the two tunes we look forward eagerly to that! In the meantime, enjoy the single. However, the single is already sold out via pre-orders but you can chase ‘em up @ https://lrkrecords.bandcamp.com/album/thrive-playground
