Brazilian music lovers will probably be aware of Lady Zu and Toto’ Mugabe’s 1978 big Latino hit, ‘Samba Soul’. The tune was revolutionary in its day. Firstly, for its very important message of promoting racial integration in 70s Brazil. Secondly, for combining so brilliantly the distinctive percussion grooves of the Brazilian tradition with the harmonic and production elements of Soul and Funk music.
‘Samba Soul’ is a sort of Brazilian music icon and recently master producer/mixer MICHELE CHIAVARINI decided to resurrect the tune and put his own especial spin on it and you can hear his new tweak from Traxsource promo from 2nd July.
What you’ll hear is a joyous Brazilian romp with big vocals from Carmichael Musiclover and Leme Nolan who together with Michele have translated the original Portugues lyrics into English. They’re as relevant today as they were in 1978. The whole thing’s uplifting and energetic and it will fit easily into any summer soundtrack! The anthem wins full release on Spry Records on 24th July.
