One of the most eagerly anticipated new albums of 2012 is ‘Through The Night‘ by young Salford-born chanteuse REN HARVIEU, who has been compared with Dusty Springfield. Ren, whose mature sound belies her 21 years, possesses a rich, creamy and supremely expressive contralto voice. She signed to Island Records last year but just after joining the label suffered a spinal injury at a party when a reveller elected to jump over a hedge and landed on the singer’s back. Two months in hospital – where she underwent operations on her spine – was followed by a lengthy spell of recuperation but happily, Ren is now ready to unveil her debut album. SJF can confirm that ‘Through The Night‘ is a wonderfully sophisticated soulful pop confection – and it’s in shops on 7th May. Miss it at your peril.
