Followers of the MAGIC radio network will know all about the station’s regular weekend soul music shows. Presented by KEITH MARTIN, they are Saturday’s ‘Steppin’ Out’ (6 -10 pm)) and Sunday’s ‘Soulful Sunday’ which runs for three soul-packed hours between 7 and 10 pm. The programmes are part of Magic’s Gold Weekend and Keith’s aim is simple – he just wants to play what he calls “Great Songs” – disco, funk and soul for Saturday nights and mellower moments for Sundays to help listeners wind down and prepare for the week ahead. KEITH knows and loves the music; the songs are the soul tracks that he grew up with – songs that still command his respect.
A key feature of the shows is the conversations that KEITH has enjoyed with some of Soul’s biggest names. Over the last year or so KEITH has interviewed people like JEFFREY DANIEL, ALEXANDER O’NEAL, MARLENA SHAW, CANDI STATON , OTIS WILLIAMS of the TEMPTATIONS, MARTHA REEVES , KENNY THOMAS , TOM MOULTON and most famously KENNY GAMBLE and LEON HUFF .
